🔥 How Burner Fantasy works
Same NFL, different game. Every choice you make this week is one less option you have for the rest of the season.
🪙 The one rule that changes everything
Each NFL player can be used only once per season. Start him in your lineup for Week 3 and he's burned — you can never start him again, no matter how on fire he gets in Week 14. So every week is a trade-off: burn your studs early to pile up points now, or save them for the stretch run and make sure you survive long enough to cash them in.
📋 Your weekly lineup
Each week you set 6 starters: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 FLEX (RB / WR / TE). That's it. No bench, no IR, no waiver wire. The entire active NFL player pool is your roster — minus everyone you've already burned.
Players lock individually as their game starts (just like real fantasy). If you forget to set your lineup before the early Sunday games kick off, you can still grab anyone playing in the late windows, Sunday Night, or Monday Night Football. Burned players stay burned forever, though.
One thing that trips people up: burns are personal. Two managers in your league can both start the same player in the same week — you're only blocked from reusing players you've already started.
🚫 No kickers. No defenses. No IR. No waivers.
Burner Fantasy is skill positions only — QB, RB, WR, and TE. No kickers, no team defenses, no IR, and no waiver wire. Kicker and defense scoring are the most random, lowest-skill parts of traditional fantasy: a shanked 38-yarder or a defense that drops 30 on two pick-sixes can swing a matchup you actually managed well.
Cutting all of it is the most-requested fix in fantasy football, so we built it in from day one. Every point you put up comes from a real football decision — which back to trust, which receiver to burn, when to cash in your stud. No coin-flip positions deciding your season.
🏆 Two league formats
The lowest-scoring team each week is eliminated. Their roster goes in the dirt with them. Last team standing at the end of the season wins. Brutal — one bad week ends you.
Every team plays all the way through. Highest cumulative points across the season wins. No head-to-head matchups, no eliminations — just stack the most points over the full schedule.
📊 Two scoring styles
Standard fantasy scoring. Yards, receptions, and touchdowns all add up. Predictable, rewards consistency.
6 points for any touchdown — passing, rushing, or receiving. Nothing else counts. High variance, high chaos. Pick the right RB and you're a hero; pick the wrong WR and you're zero.
📅 How a week works
- Pick your lineup. Fill each slot with any NFL player you haven't burned yet. Starting a player burns him for the rest of the season, so spend wisely.
- Players lock at kickoff. Each starter locks the moment his real game begins — not all at once. Miss the early games? You can still fill open slots with anyone who plays later that week.
- Scores update live. Your points climb in real time as your players produce.
- The week finalizes itself. After the last game, scores post automatically, the lowest team is chopped (in guillotine leagues), and the next week opens for picks.
